    Saturday October 31st 2009
    12:30pm – 4:30pm
    Phillips Square
    across from the Bay at
    St. Catherine and Union
    (Metro McGill)

You’re invited to the Hallowe’en party of the year! Join Tadamon and the Québec BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) Committee as we launch the Boycott Ahava campaign in Montreal. On the scariest day of the year, we will be demanding that the Bay take its creepiest product, Ahava Dead Sea cosmetics, off its shelves.

Ahava Dead Sea Laboratories is a privately held Israeli cosmetics company that manufactures products using minerals and mud from the Dead Sea. Ahava’s products — such as Grape & Avocado Body Wash, Dead Sea Mineral Mud, and Mineral Foot Cream — are widely available in high-end department stores and pharmacies throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. The Hebrew word “Ahava” means love, but there is nothing loving about the company’s operations in the Occupied Palestinian territory of the West Bank. Ahava’s corporate practices are against international law.

Ahava is hiding the ugly truth — that its products are derived from stolen Palestinian natural resources in the occupied West Bank and are manufactured in the illegal West Bank settlement of Mitzpe Shalem.

Wear your scariest costume to our Halloween party at the Bay and join zombies of apartheid, occupation vampires, and war crimes mud monsters at this festive public awareness action which aims to UNMASK the ugly truth about Israeli apartheid!

How many people do you think will be protesting?

I love Ahava! But I haven’t used their products in a while. Thanks for reminding me – I’ll go to the Bay tomorrow and buy them for all of my friends as Halloween presents. I now realize it will also be for the good cause of fighting death cults.

It’s been a while since I bought Ahava products, but tomorrow I am going out and am going to spend a couple of hundred bucks stocking up on them and giving them out as birthday gifts, house warming gifts, Christmas gifts and more. No more bottles of wine for gifts any more-ONLY AHAVA!!

Pretty terrible – not the best way to advance peace….Why not promote palestinian products instead of boycotting israeli products? I’m quite certain many arab israelis use these products and work at the factories. Any plans on boycotting products from China? Saudi Arabia? Iran? Ya thought so….

Give me a break! Is your real goal to help palestinians or take down Israel?

The boycott of Israeli products such as Ahava is one of the many international responses the Palestinian call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli apartheid, issued by over 170 Palestinian civil society groups in 2005.

The Palestinian call for boycott was issued on the anniversary of the historic International court of Justice ruling on the illegality of Israel’s apartheid wall, which is currently being built to surround and annex land from the West Bank.

The Palestinian groups that came together to call for BDS include refugee organisations, women’s groups, trade unions, and cultural groups. For more info, please see http://www.bdsmovement.net.

See you on Saturday! There will also be actions in New York and other US cities!

Does this Bay carry a lot of Ahava products?

Hey there!

Thanks for reminding about Ahava products!
I Love the stuff that they sell, and I Love Israel as well… It’s a wonderful Country with wonderful people.
I will be there on Saturday purchasing some gifts for friends & relatives.

One of my friends that I am going to give the gift to is Palestinian actually…

I wish for Peace in the Middle East!

“Adrian,” “Jessica B,” “Alexander”… try using a proxy next time, pal. Mixing up the script also wouldn’t hurt. Pathetic!

Others: see you at La Baie!

Can’t wait to get my Ahava products!! Boycott? Ha ha. It’s having the opposite effect!

I’m off to shop!

Maybe if you promoted the arabs’, who claim to be “palestinian” products that might help them!
