candlelight vigil in honour of those killed in the peaceful protests
in Syria for democracy, freedom and dignity in Syria and everywhere!
    Friday, April 15th 18h-20h
corner of Peel and Réné Lévèsque
    Montreal, Quebec
    bring your own candles

Since March 15th, the people of Syria have courageously taken to the streets in peaceful protest to demand freedom and justice, and specifically the release of all political prisoners and an end to emergency law. These legimate demands have been met with brutal violence by security forces, resulting in the death of 171 people as of April 11th according to Amnesty International. Hundreds have also been snatched off the streets and are being arbitrarily detained in Syria’s notorious prisons. But the international media remains all but silent about this important struggle for freedom and justice unfolding in Syria.

Tadamon! is calling on Quebecois and Canadians of all backgrounds to come out in support of a CANDLELIGHT VIGIL organized by members of the Syrian community in Montreal. The vigil condemns the violence committed by the security forces against peaceful demonstrators in Syria and across the world and supports their legitimate demands for democracy, freedom and dignity.

Join in saying YES to equality and freedom, and no to oppression and injustice. Join in igniting the light of freedom in Syria and across the world. Light a candle in honour of the defenders of freedom and dignity.

Hi,

Thank you for this website.
I went to Montreal for the candlelight at 8PM but unfortunately I was late, my friend told me it will be from 6 – 9 PM.

One note regarding your site pronunciation in English, it should be Tadaamun or Tadaamon. The Arabic letter Alef is pronounced as [ aa ] in English, French, German and most Latin languages, many people make this mistake.

Please correct it since this site will be visited by many worldwide.
