Al-Masadiya, al-Garin, Khirbat al-Watan, Bir al-Hamam, Khashem Zana, Sawin, al-Shahabi, Wadi al-Naam and al-Mashash are all Palestinian Bedouin villages facing destruction by bulldozers and cement mixers as Israel’s transportation ministry plans to lengthen its Trans-Israel Highway southward into the Naqab (Negev) desert. This means that more than 3,000 Palestinian Bedouins could be displaced if an injunction filed by Israeli civil rights nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) doesn’t succeed in the high court.

Spokespeople for Bimkom (Planners for Planning Rights), the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and the Regional Council for Unrecognized Villages in the Negev, some of the groups filing the injunction, say that the Israeli government approved the highway construction without consideration for indigenous populations in the Naqab.

Occupied Palestine, May 26 2010 – The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC), strongly condemns the actions taken by Canadian state bodies, university administrations and pressure groups to defund, repress and otherwise attempt to weaken groups and individuals that provide assistance to, or campaign in solidarity with, Palestinians. Such blatantly anti-democratic measures are not only repulsive per se; they are forms of complicity with Israeli violations of international law and Palestinian rights and have far reaching adverse consequences for civil liberties. The BNC believes that this repression in Canada must be brought to an end.

Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said Monday that Canberra has asked Israel to withdraw a diplomat after an investigation found “no doubt” of its role in forging four Australian passports implicated in the slaying of a Hamas operative in Dubai earlier this year.

Au congrès, les 297 délégué(e)s ont voté, presque à l’unanimité, en faveur d’une résolution d’appui de la campagne internationale pour le Boycott, le désinvestissement, et les sanctions (BDS) contre l’apartheid israélien.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to visit Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa on May 31st. The visit will be another step towards strengthening Canada’s support for Israeli apartheid, war crimes, and Israel’s long history of contempt for international law. Middle East solidarity collective Tadamon therefore calls upon all supporters of human rights and social justice to join us in protesting at 5pm May 31st in front of the Human Rights Monument in Ottawa against Benjamin Netanyahu’s presence in Canada.

For the first time in its 30-year history, Pride Toronto has banned an LGBT community group from the parade. The board of directors voted on Friday to ban the words ‘Israeli Apartheid’ from any Pride events, including the Pride parade, dyke march, and trans march – directly targeting the group Queers Against Israeli Apartheid.

Photo Documents on nuclear warheads between apartheid South Africa and Israel

Secret South African documents reveal that Israel offered to sell nuclear warheads to the apartheid regime, providing the first official documentary evidence of the state’s possession of nuclear weapons.

The “top secret” minutes of meetings between senior officials from the two countries in 1975 show that South Africa‘s defence minister, PW Botha, asked for the warheads and Shimon Peres, then Israel’s defence minister and now its president, responded by offering them “in three sizes”. The two men also signed a broad-ranging agreement governing military ties between the two countries that included a clause declaring that “the very existence of this agreement” was to remain secret.
