This January 25th, 2014 marks the third anniversary of the Egyptian popular uprising that ousted Hosni Mubarak and sparked a series of events leading up to today. The Egyptians are experiencing events that are quickly changing as various factions of society struggle to carve out a space in the political sphere. Despite various setbacks and roadblocks, the Egyptian revolutionary process carries on.

Please join us on Friday, January 24th for an evening of food and cultural performances to commemorate the Egyptian revolution and reflect on the events that have transpired in the last few years, as we hope to reinforce our commitment to the struggle for a free and just Egypt.

The evening will include:

-The screening of the documentary “The Square” directed by Jehane Noujaim
“The Square” http://thesquarefilm.com/
-Dinner and refreshments buffet style (vegetarian -option available)
-Music and cultural performances

Tickets are $10 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will go to the No to Military Trials for Civilians campaign http://en.nomiltrials.com/ who believe ending the trying of civilians in military tribunals is essential in the road to freedom and democracy. The group offers legal aid and other forms of ongoing support to Egyptians experiencing military trials and political repression and works closely with their families.
