Join the Al Hidaya Association of Montreal & Tadamon! for an interactive slide-show & presentation from HABBOUBA AOUN of the Landmine Resource Center in Beirut.

Habbouba Aoun is visiting Canada this week to provide insight & information concerning the effects of Israeli cluster bombs on Lebanon. During her visit to Canada, Aoun has spoken to the national press on Parliament Hill in Ottawa & to Members of the Canadian Parliament.

This Montreal event will be an opportunity for Montrealers & members of the Lebanese Diaspora to hear a first-hand account on the devastating effects of Israeli cluster munitions, within the context of a growing international campaign to ban these weapons in war.

U.N. officials estimate that Israel discharged up to 1 million cluster bomblets during the 2006 attack, 40% of which remain unexploded in southern Lebanon. The hundreds of thousands of unexploded cluster bomblets sprayed over the country pose a deadly danger to the people of Lebanon.

Since the U.N. brokered ceasefire on August 14th, 156 people have become victims of cluster munitions, 90% of which were civilians and one third of which are under the age of 18 years.
